Project in Progress: Of Places and Moments

Of Places and Moments is a celebration of the art of field recordings. Tracks to be included will utilize recordings from the Sounds Found Project. The recordings can be mangled, manipulated, abused or violated beyond recognition, so long as some audio source in the track is taken from one of the available recordings.

Submissions will be accepted until the deadline of July 31st August 14th. Click the Contact link on the right for more information.

Author: john ingram

This iteration of John Ingram was created in response to increased demand in global John Ingramness. Previous incarnations were less suited to fulfill this need.

  2. Since I only have on entry for this so far, I’m sticking it to the front page for more visibility. The deadline is the end of this month, so interested parties should get submissions in sometime soon. If you’re working on something, but don’t think you can make the deadline, let me know. I’m willing to extend the deadline if necessary.

  3. I have a lot of field recordings, however it’s mostly birdies and crickets and such. The flora is decidedly silent.

  4. Even older, Johnny Boy!! I am now a Grandfather times 2, nearing my 60th and feeling every moment of it. Other than that … OK. Nice to see IM is active again and you’re still you. 🙂

  5. I tried being someone else for a while, but found the ruse too tiring. Plus I just never felt comfortable in those six inch stilettos…

Intelligent Machinery is indeed active again. You should dig down deep and come up with something heady for the compilation. Kick things off with a serious bang.

  6. This sounds like a fun project, and appropriate enough for World Listening Day. I’ll make an attempt and let you know if I come up with something worth including.

  7. “Intelligent Machinery is indeed active again”.

I must have really good timing.

I’d like to try making something for this… something I won’t be embarrassed by later.

  8. That would be awesome. It’s been too long since I last heard a new Raytownians track.

  9. Okay. I got an email this morning from the ineffable jfox, requesting a deadline extension. I’ve received, thanks in no small part to his efforts, apparently, a significant increase in interest over the last week, so I’m going to extend the deadline to August 14th.

For those of you working on tracks, you have two additional weeks to get them in. If you’ve already submitted a track, and want to revisit it now that you have more time, just make sure I get an updated version before the new deadline.

    Thanks, everyone!

  10. Good thing about the extension… I’ve been so busy with registering for Fall classes at the very last possible minute, I haven’t gotten much else done.

  11. OK, submitted something. Great concept – really stretches you to work with this. 100% from the found sounds (no other sound sources used at all) in my case. Lots of processing though… 😉
