What manner, backlog

It appears as though I have accumulated quite the backlog of images that I intended to share with you, my faithful readers. Some of these will fall under the purview of the Graffiti category, while others merely amuse me. There’s even a DESTROY image, or two, in the mix.

Comments, left to right, top to bottom:
1. “I am the anti-Christ. I am the anarchist. Know what I want but the stupid Man keeps holding me down, and making me go to, like, High School, and stuff. Fuck him!”
2. Well. It hasn’t come to that quite yet. I’ll keep you posted.
3. Put yo hood up, Emperor Palpatine! Silly anarchists strike again…
4. It’s almost unfair to keep picking on them, but someone needs to point out how ludicrous this seems to people with cognizance and awareness.
5. DESTROY spark plug. Second of this design that I’ve seen.
6. DESTROY pig and CCTV camera. Or CCTV camera watching the pig. Hard to say which…
7. I’m particularly fond of the amateurish Crayola magic marker flames engulfing the detritus pouring out of that upside-down van.
8. PLEASE!
9. Do not believe their lies.
10. I have no idea what this thing is, but I LOVE it.
11. Man, I bet that is a tasty brew.
12. Not a big fan of the “barf” phenomenon around town, but this one was too cute to pass up.
13. If I wasn’t so sure she’s jailbait…
14. This just cracked me up.
15. In some ways, immutable.
16. Ladies’ Room graffiti. A rare glimpse, for us men, into the seedy underbelly of female toilet humor.

I hope to return next week with some more compelling news/ramblings. Until then, etc. etc.

Dead Voices; White Noise released

Head on over to Just Not Normal to check out and download Dead Voices; White Noise, the latest compilation release from your friends here at Intelligent Machinery. It turned out to be a smaller project than I had hoped, but the finished product is fantastic, nonetheless.

Head over, download a free copy and give it a spin. I’m also accepting ideas for the next project. It will be a more long-term project, for a number of reasons, so the concept can be as extravagant or outrageous as possible.

Also, be sure to give your thanks to Mark for his tireless efforts in releasing and promoting these compilations through his netlabel and its related resources. Cheers, Mark!

New Controlled Dissonance CD out

Check out this news from Bicephalic Records:

New release from Bicephalic Records:

BC003 – Controlled Dissonance : Terrains Vagues
http://www.bicephalic.net/bc003.html

John Ingram (Controlled Dissonance) creates some great dark ambient / atmospheric drone, or as I’ve seen described elsewhere “harsh ambient, soft noise”. His Intelligent Machinery website is and has been various things (net label, blog, etc.) and has hosted & compiled some great noise & electronic compilations. Terrains Vagues sounds like a slow and ominous descent into the deepest depths of the ocean. On first listen, I imagined something akin the final scene in the movie The Abyss. Subtle and cinematic. That was my experience anyway. Let it take you where it may.

In his own words:
“That je ne sais quoi of sound that is so often ill-described as “atmosphere” had always intrigued him. The manner in which textures of sound overlapped, faded into and out of one another and reflected off of the surfaces of the surrounding world, like a lone shoe tossed about in an otherwise empty dryer. It was this sense of space and how it could be explored that first attracted him. It was the freedom of expression, unfettered by the constraints of traditional composition, that held him fast in the world of abstract noise. The visceral freedom to place his hands on virtually anything from which sound could be culled, and revel in the instant gratification of turning that object, regardless of its original intent, into an instrument of sound.
That is Controlled Dissonance.”
